A Special cover on Sri.Appikatla Joseph, a freedom fighter was released on 31st August 2021 at Vijayawada.
Sri. Appikalla Joseph, was born in Ventrapragada Village, Krishna District on 15.07.1917. He participated in the Quit India Movement during the BritIsh Rule. He went to jail many times during that agitation. He worked with Bezawada Gapal Reddy (Andhra Tagore), Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy (Former President of India), Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu (Andhra Kesari), NG Ranga and Gowthu Lachhanna. He was an elected member of the First Parliament for the period 1949-1952 and was also elected as the Member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council for the period 1966-1972. He played a key role in the establishment of Railway Junction at Vijayawada. He established ABM Upper Primary School with Boys hostel at Lambadipet, Vijayawada.
