A Special Cover on the Elephant Paramekkavu Rajendran was released on 16th October 2021 at Thrissur.
The chief attraction of the Thrissur Pooram, an annual temple festival in Kerala is the participation of large number of caparisoned Elephants and therefore, Paramekkavu Rajendran, the Elelphant who holds the record for participating in most number of Thrissur Poorams holds a special place in the hearts of all Pooram and Elephant ehthusiasts. Rajendran's tryst with destiny began in 1955, when he was transported from Nilambur forests of kerala to become the property of Paramekkavu Bhagavathy temple, one of hte major participants in Thrissur Pooram. his amiable nature, big broad ears and height of 9ft.3 inches won him the most celebrated temple elephant of Kerala 'Gajarathnam Guruvayur Kesavan'. This star pachyderm made his presence felt in the national arena when he was chose to parade in the openiong ceremony of the Asian Games in 1982 in Delhi. He was accorder the title of 'Gajarathnam' by Kanchi Sankaracharya Sree Jayendra Saraswath. Rajendran died in October 2019 after participating in 50 Thrissur Poorams.
