Al Gaffal 60ft Traditional Dhow Sailing Race

Emirates Post released a set of stamp and Souvenir Sheet to commemorate Al Gaffal 60ft Traditional Dhow Sailing Race on 27th May 2012.

 The annual Al Gaffal 60ft Traditional Dhow Sailing Race is  organized under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, by Dubai International Marine Club to mark the end of the water sports season. This race has been held every year since 1991.The race features nearly 100 dhows travelling to a distance of about 51 nautical miles. It requires huge preparations and logistical support such as keeping the area safe and protect the participants from surrounding dangers, especially from giant barges

'Abu Dhabi 2011'- 17th GCC Stamp Exhibition.

Emirates Post will issue a special stamp in the denomination of 150 Fils, along with a first day cover on April 4 2011. The GCC Stamp exhibition is being organized by Emirates Post in coordination with the Emirates Philatelic Association from 4 to 9 April 2011 at Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi, to showcase rare and valuable stamps and postal history.The new stamp depicts the logo of exhibition.

DP World

 

Emirates Post has issued a set of commemorative stamps in denominations of AED 1, 2, 3 and AED 4 along with a Souvenir Sheet to mark the fifth anniversary of the establishment of DP World as a global marine terminal operator on 1st Dec. 2010 which depict dynamic images of container vessels and cranes at DP World’s flagship Jebel Ali Port. DP World was formed in September 2005 with the integration of the terminal operations of the Dubai Ports Authority (DPA), which was focused on the UAE Ports of Rashid and Jebel Ali, and DPI (Dubai Ports International) which had been set up to export this success internationally.

In this Post I take a look at some of the Post Office of U.A.E.

In the Bur Dubai area opposite the entrance to the Basitkya, you can see the Al Mussalla Post office.

The American University of Sharjah has a post office which is a mail collection center. They sell stamps but do not cancel mail. Mail is all processed in the Dubai Post Office

This is a typical suburban post office.

Sharjah Arabian Stamp Exhibition

Sharjah's first exhibition dedicated to local stamps was inaugrated by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Corporation on 22nd september 2010 at Mega Mall, Sharjah. President of the Emirates Philatelic Association, Abdulla Khoory was also present.The six day event will conclude on 27th september, which is sponsored by Du.

This Exhibition will feature several collections of rare and valuable stamps offering unique insights into Arabic cultural history, and will be open to all visitors to Mega Mall's Garden Court from 10A M to  10PM. Entrance is free.
