Naval Dockyard, Mumbai

 A special cover was released 6th October to celebrate 275 years of glorious service of the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai.

The mission of the Naval Dockyard is to emerge as world class repair Yard with the capacity to maintain the highest state of sea-worthiness and combat preparedness of Indian Naval ships and submarines by harnessing modern technology, augmenting infrastructure and nurturing the human resource in participative and innovative work environment.

Subramaniam Shankar,was born on 12 July 1938 with his father being a judicial magistrate. Following the footsteps of his father he studied Law but gave it up after a year because of his interests in fine arts like theater.Jaishankar is a yesteryear star of Tamil Film Industry. He is fondly referred to as Thennagathu James Bond or South Indian James Bond. His penchant for dashing roles earned him the sobriquet of James Bond of South India, thanks to his roles in films like Vallavan Oruvan, CID Shankar and many others.

A Special cover was released on Jai Shankar on 1st October 2010.

National Institute of Technology

A special cover on National Institute of Technology, Surathkal, Karnataka, was released to celebrate the golden Jubilee year ( 2009-2010) on 06.08.2010.

The photograph depicts Shri. U. Srinivas Mallya, founder of the National Institute of Technology, Karnataka (NITK) Surathkal. It is one of the Technical institutions of National Importance and it enjoys a very good reputation at National and International levels.

Inauguration of Terminal T3

A Special Cover and postmark was released by Mrs.Sonia Gandhi, the Chairperson of UPA on the inauguration of the new T3 terminal at the International Airport, New Delhi, India, on 03 July 2010. The Prime Minister of India, Mr.Manmohan Singh was also present.

National Academy of Audit & Accounts

The Indian Audit & Accounts Department was formed in 1860. In 1950 , when the Constitution came into force, the Auditor General was re-designed as the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

For carrying out diverse functions, the comptroller & Auditor General of India is assisted by one of India"s oldest and premier services - the Indian Audit and Accounts Service.

 

Institutionalised training arrangements for IA&AS Officers were started in Shimla in 1950 at the IA&AS Training School, which is one of the oldest training institutions in the Country. It was upgraded on 28th February 1990, as the National Academy of Audit & Accounts.

The academy is celebrating its Diamond jubilee this year. 'Yarrows' where all IA&AS Officers from 1950 have lived during their training is featured on the cover.

London Festival of Stamps.

The London Festival of Stamps 2010 was conducted from May 8 to 15 at the Business Design Centre, Islington.“London 2010 Festival of Stamps” is a year long celebration of stamps, stamp design and postal heritage. The Festival also marks the centenary of the accession of George V, the philatelist king.

Here I have presented a cover posted to my address on 11th May from the Venue by a Philatelist Friend.
