A Special cover was released on the Malabar Pied Hornbill on 11th February 2023 at Dandeli.
The Malabar Pied Hornbill is a near threatened species, endemic to the tropical deciduous forests of Central and Southern India and Sri Lanka. The Dandeli region in Karnataka is believed to be the last stronghold of this species in the Western Ghats biodiversity hot spot. In the interest if keystone species, for conservation and protection The Government of Karnataka has constituted "Hornbill Conservation Reserve" during 2011 in Haliyali Forest Division.
