Sahyadri Ranga Taranga: Sahyadri Ranga Taranga (Saranta) Shivamogga, a Kannada theatre group started its journey in 1986. Its main aim is to bring social awareness among the public through theatre art. Many of the dramas have been staged more than 100 times. Saranta also conducts workshops for students on makeup, costumes theatre music etc. The troop has won many prestigious awards in Karnataka.

Bhadra Reservoir Project: The Bhadra Dam, which has created the Bhadra Reservoir, is located on the Bhadra River a tributary ofTungabhadra River. Bhadra dam is located on the border ofBhadravathi and Tarikere, in the western part ofKarnataka in India. The benefits derived from the reservoir are irrigation with gross irrigation potential of 162,818 hectares. Hydro power generation of39.2 MW. Drinking water supply and industrial use. The dam was built to a height of 59 .13 metres between 194 7 (start of construction) and 1965 (year of commissioning).

Head Post office, Shivamogga: The first post office in Shivamogga was established in 1890. The office is located in Shivamogga city centre. The present building was constructed in 1974.

Ninasam: Ninasam is a cultural organisation located in the village of Heggodu in Sagar Taluk of Shivamogga district. An organization dedicated to the dissemination of theatre and culture, it runs a theatre institute, a travelling theatre company and conducts several other projects related to culture and society. K V Subbanna was one of its founder members. He has received the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1991 for his contribution to the fieldof creative communication and arts.

Issur Rebellion: Villagers of Issur village in Shikaripura taluk in Shivamogga district, refused to pay land revenue as agriculture yield had declined that year due to natural calamity. They hoisted the tri-colour from the top of the Veerabhadreshwara temple on 29/9/1942 and declared the village free of British rule. This incident is known as Issur rebellion. Five freedom fighters from this village namely, K Giriyappa, Mallapaa, Suryanarayanachar, Halappa and Shankarappa were martyred in March 1943.
