Vazhakulam Pineapple.

 A Special cover on the Vazhakulam Pineapple was released on 19th February 2022 at Vazhakulam.

Vazhakulam Pineapple with a average fruit weight of 1.2 to 1.6 kgs, locally known as kannarachakka and grown chiefly in the Vazhakulam area of Muvattupuzha Taluk in Ernakulam District of Central Kerala, belongs to queen cultivar variety. The slightly cone shaped fruit has a pleasant aroma and crisp golden-yellow coloured flesh which yields delicious juice. Due to the salubrious combination of favourable agro-climatic conditions prevailing in the region, pineapple produced here has an irresistible savour that has won the patronage of thousands of discerning consumers all over the world.Low pest and disease incidence int he region demand practically very little use of permitted pesticides. The fruit is therefore ideal for consumption both in rae and processed forms like jam, squash, jelly, fortified juice and other types of fruit preserves.
