World Hepatitis Day

 A Special cover was released to mark "World Hepatitis Day' on 28th July 2021 at Bengaluru.

 "World Hepatitis Day' which is observed each year on 28th July to raise awareness of viral hepatitis, an inflammation of the liver that causes severe liver disease and hepatocellular cancer.This year's theme is "Hepatitis can't wait", conveying the urgency of efforts needed to eliminate hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030. With a person dying every 30 seconds from a hepatitis related illness - even in the current COVID-19 crisis - we can't wait to act on viral hepatitis.
National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme is an integrated initiative for prevention and control of Viral Hepatitis A, B, C, D and E in the country with aims to end Viral Hepatitis by 2030.
Prevention Methods:
• Awareness generation and behaviour change communication
• Immunisation for Hepalitis-B (Birth dose, Healthcare workers, High Risk Group)
• Safe blood and blood products
• Injection safely, safe social cultural practices
• Safe drinking water, hygiene and clean toilets
Free Check-up and laboratory services for Hepatitis Disease in all Government Hospitals. Free check-up, additional laboratory services and treatment at District Level Government Hospital in Government Medical Colleges.
