World Tourism Day.

 A special cover was released on World Tourism Day on 27th September 2015 at Jaipur. ‘My Stamp’ facility was inaugurated at Hawa Mahal to mark the World Tourism Day. To commemorate the same a Special Cover was released on 27th September 2015 at Jaipur.

Artek

Russia Post released a stamp on 16th June 2015 on International Children's Center " Artek"

"Artek" is located on the southern coast of Crimea in the settlement Gurzuf. It is the most famous in the world of children's center which takes about 30 thousand children a year.Its main objective is the  health of children using the unique natural, climatic potential and the achievements of modern medicine.

Alwarpex - 2015

 Alwarpex-2015, 4th District Level Philatelic Exhibition at Alwar was held from 30th September to 2nd October 2015 at Adinath Public School,Alwar.Two special covers were released during the Exhibition. On 30th September a Cover on Moosi Maharani Ki Chhatri, Alwar and on 2nd October 2015 on Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme.

Coat of Arms of Nizhny

Russia Post released a stamp to commemorate the Coat of Arms of Nizhny on 16th  June 2015. Coat of Arms of Nizhny, Novgorod is the image of a heraldic shield on the quadrilateral with rounded lower corners.

Mysore Silk

A special cover was released in Bengaluru on 15th October 2015 on the occasion of the centenary celebrations of  Mysore Silk.

INS Agrani

To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of INS Agrani a Special Cover was released by Flag Officer Commanding-in-chief, Vice-Admiral, Sunil Lanba and Postmaster General, Coimbatore, Ms. Manju P. Pillai on 18th September 2015.

The name Agrani is a Sanskrit word meaning - The leader.  It is the only establishment in the Navy for training the senior sailors of all branches in one place.  The multi dimensional role of Agrani involves Leadership and Management training, administering teh. Naval Shooting Team and supporting the Aircraft and Engine Holding Unit along with housing the Naval Selection Board.  INS Agrani, has completed 50 years of Glorious Service to the Nation.

Madhubani Paintings.

A special cover was released on 17th August 2015,on Madhubani Paintings at Sitamarhi, Bihar. The Cover depicts image of ‘Sita Swayamvar” (marriage of Sita with Lord Ram) in Madhubani style of paintings. The top and bottom border of the cover is also depicted as Madhubani Paintings border. The cancellation depicts the images of Lord Ram and Sita.

World War I

A special cover was released on 29th August 2015 at Pune to pay  tribute to our soldiers who fought in the First World War. The cover depicts a French Lady offering a rose to an Indian soldier in Paris. The cancellation depicts a rose, symbol of hope and love of a war weary world.

Post Forum

Special covers on the ocassion of Silver Jubilee of Post Forum was released on 9th October 2015 at Chennai by Dr. Charles Lobo, Chief Postmaster General, Tamil Nadu Circle,and at Tiruchirapalli by  Shri. Suvendu Swain, Postmaster General, Central Region. It was also released in Coimbatore.

Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi released a stamp on the former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, to celebrate his 84th birth anniversary at DRDO Bhawan, in New Delhi on 15th October, 2015. Union Ministers, Shri Manohar Parrikar, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad and Dr. Harsh Vardhan were also present on the occasion.

A.P.J.Abdul Kalam was the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He is Widely referred to as the "People's President,"As he is a Scientist, and was intimately involved in India's civilian space program and military missile development efforts. He thus came to be known as the Missile Man of India for his work on the development of ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology. 

Coat of Arms of Derbent

Russia Post released a stamp to commemorate the  Coat of Arms of Derbent on 16th  June 2015.

The coat of arms of the city of Derbent depicts on the right side a green mountain with the gold crenelated tower with two black loopholes, red arch and golden shield wall,  four wavy azure belts; Left side depicts three red poppy flowers.

Maritime Museum, Roterdam

PostNL (Netherlands) issued a set of stamps on 12th October 2015 on ship models from the Maritime Museum, Rotterdam.

The ship models on the stamps offer a good overview of the different types of ships built over the past seven centuries. The oldest depicted ship is a Spanish freighter from 1425, and the newest is a Dutch construction ship built in 2014. Five of the ship models on the new stamps are part of the new permanent exhibit in the Maritime Museum. The exhibit comprises a total of 25 masterpieces from the museum’s centuries-old collection.

A special cover was released in Mumbai to celebrate the birth centenary of Dr. M.S.Subbulakshmi on 16th September 2015.

Charkha

India Post released a set of 2 stamp and a miniature sheet depicting Charka on 15th October 2015. Two types of Charka are the Bardoli Charka and the Peti Charka.

Thewa Art, Pratapgarh.

A special cover was released on the occasion of the first District level Philatelic Exhibition "CHITTORGARPEX  2015" at Chittorgarh on 13th September 2015 on the Thewa Art, Pratapgarh.

The cover depicts a Thewa Jewellery.  Thewa is a special art of Jewelry making which involves embossing  of intricately worked-outgold sheet on molten glass and the cancellation is of the sketch of the ear wearing jewellery madewith Thewa Art.

India 1929 Air Mail Stamps: A Study of Constant Varieties.

Stamps of India is pleased to announce the publication of its new book India 1929 Air Mail Stamps: A Study of Constant Varieties; a new path-breaking work by Rohit Prasad.

World Post Day - 2015

As always, the World Post Day is celebrated on 9th October and marks the founding of the Universal Postal Union in 1874.It was declared World Post Day by UPU Congress held in Tokyo, Japan in 1969. Today I would like to share an article by Ms.Nisha Jha.

Postal Services are very close to me and I get excited every time I see a post office in any country. Don’t take me wrong, there are many other things that get me excited as well. If you know me, I am avid collector of Postcards and I try to send myself a postcard from a country I am visiting....

Bank of Russia

Russia Post issued a Souvenir sheet with 3 stamps on 4th June 2015 to commemorate 155th foundation anniversary of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.

The postage stamp depicts a portrait of EI Lamansky controlling the State Bank of the Russian Empire in 1867-1881,  3 kopecks in 1841 - the period of the silver standard, introduced monetary reform EF Kankrin 1839-1841, 1 ruble 1866 - Coin regular coinage period of the first years after the establishment of the State Bank of the Russian Empire, golden ducat 1923 - put into circulation in the course of the monetary reform GY Sokolnikova of 1922-1924, 1 ruble coin of 2014 with the image of a graphical notation of the ruble as a sign of the modern building of the Bank of Russia.

Mahant Avaidyanath

India Post released a stamp on Mahant Avaidyanath  to mark his first death Anniversary in New Delhi on 1st October 2015. It was released by Communications & IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad at Gorakhpur.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

India Post released a stamp on Dr. B.R.Ambedkar to celebrate his 125th Birth Anniversary in New Delhi on 30th September 2015. It was released by The Union Minister for Communications & Information Technology, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad. The Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri Thaawar Chand Gehlot and the Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Shri Vijay Sampla were also present on the occasion.

Norilsk Nickel

Russia Post issued a stamp on Norilsk Nickel - Russian Mining and Metallurgical Company on 2nd June 2015. The stamp depicts a metallurgist with scoop trams, helicopter and metallurgical plant on the background.

“Norilsk Nickel” is the world's largest producer of nickel and palladium, platinum and copper. The company also produces by-products - cobalt, rhodium, silver, gold, iridium, ruthenium, selenium, tellurium and sulfur. The principal activities of the company are prospecting, exploration, mining and processing of minerals, production, marketing and sale of non-ferrous and precious metals.

Water Conservation Projects.

A special cover was released on 7th July 2015 on the Launch of Water Conservation Projects by the Rotary Club of Madras - R.I. District 3230 at Chennai.

Legacy of Le Corbusier.

Special Cover released on 27th August 2015 commemorating 50 years after the Master - Legacy of Le Corbusier. He was a Swiss-French architect, designer, painter, urban planner, writer, and one of the pioneers of what is now called modern architecture. He has also designed many buildings in India.
