300 years of the factory "Arsenal"

Russia released a stamp on 14th October 2011 on 300 years of the factory "Arsenal". Arsenal was opened in 1711 by Peter I as " Cannon Foundries". The stamp depicts a cannon, "Shuvalov Unicorn" and the panorama of the fortress in the background.

Regional Commonwealth in the field of communications. 1991-2011

Russia released a stamp on 10th October 2011 on Regional Commonwealth, depicting its emblem, which is dedicated to the Regional Cooperation in the field of communications, acting as interstate coordinating body in the fields of telecommunications and postal communications, and information.

National Postal Week - Philatelic Day Celebration in Mangalore

India Post released a stamp of Chitrapur Math on 9^th October 2011. 

 It was established in 1757 and located in Shirali village in North Kanara, Karnataka.TheMath  reaches out to help through charitable and developmental activities such as distribution of free meals, promoting education, health care etc. It is involved not only in charitable, but other humanitarian, bio and eco friendly activities and promotes green.

On 3rd October 2011 Russia released a set of 3 stamp XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi - Olympic winter Sports. The stamp depicts skiing, ski jumping and short track.

Russia released a stamp on Innovative Biotechnology on 30.09.2011.

The stamp depicts the emblem of the Eurasian Economic Community,wheat and the molecular structure on the background of laboratory flasks and test tubes.

MAHAPEX - 2012

Pune will host the four-day 11th state-level philatelic exhibition, Mahapex 2012, at Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch from January 13 next year.

After 25 years, Pune will be hosting such an exhibition for Maharashtra and Goa. The Prospectus of 'Mahapex 2012' was unveiled by Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra circle, Faiz-Ur-Rehman, on Friday at Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management.

The postmaster general of Pune region, Colonel (retd) KC Mishra, mayor of Pimpri-Chinchwad Yogesh Behl were present on the occasion. Among Philatelists Pratisad Nurgaonkar, Basti Solanki, Dixit, Col. Dutta, Mrs.Dutta, Col.Pujara, Vinayak Avate from Pune, Suketu Zaveri and Surendra Kotadiya from Mumbai, P.G.Bhargave from Nasik, M.J.Karajagi from Solapur and Deepak Modi from Jalna were also present.

Rehman said that it would be a big-budget event, where renowned Indian philatelists would be participating. The show will host 400 exhibition frames exhibited by over 300 philatelists from the two states.

The Trained Nurses Association of India.

On 30th September 2011 India Post issued a commemorative postage stamp on The Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) to honour the silent and dedicated workers of this association.TNAI was established in 1908 is a national organisation of nursing professionals at different levels.

XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi

To continue the Series - XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia released as Souvenir Sheet on "Tourism in the Black Sea coast of Russia" It was released on 27.09.2011 in 6 languages. The Souvenir sheet has 4 stamps with tabs at the sides which has the description of the stamp. The English version of the same is shown below:

The SS depicts Krasnaya Polyana ski resort at the Black Sea coast, the marine terminal building, the Romanesque watch tower and Volkonosky Dolmen, which is a megalithic landmark.

Living people to be honored on U.S. postage stamps.

The U.S. Postal Service announced recently that it is ending its longstanding rule that stamps cannot feature people who are still alive. It hopes to boost its revenue has asked the public for suggestions as to who will be the first living person to be featured on a stamp.

India Post released a stamp on Jain Saint Jaimalji Maharaj on 25.09.2011.

Iceland and Malta Joint Issue

On 15th September 2011 a joint stamp was issued by Iceland and Malta.

 Iceland and Malta are the northernmost and southernmost islands in Europe. Fishing has been the main source of revenue for centuries on these two islands. Iceland Post and Malta Post are now collaborating on a joint stamp issue occasioned by this relationship with fishing towns as the motif. The town of Húsavík is the motif of the Icelandic minisheet while the Maltese one depicts the town of Mgarr, Gozo.

Supply Ships - Pitcairn Islands

 Pitcairn Islands released as set of 4 stamp on 31st August 2011 on Supply Ships.

Pitcairn’s remoteness means it is dependent on small supply ships to provide a lifeline to the community.  Since the withdrawal of the Blue Star Line in 2003, the residents have relied on the smaller vessels that ply their way from Mangareva in French Polynesia, some 500 km away.
