Shri.K.Shyamaraya Acharya was an eminent sculptor of Karkala. Along with stone idols he also had his mastery over architecture. Wood carving was also his area of interest. He was honored with several State and National awards. He was the first president of the " Karnataka State Shilpakala Academy" His craftmanship can be seem in Karkala even today.

Justice Kowdoor Sadananda Hegde was an Indian Jurist and Politician who served as a judge in the Supreme Court of India and later a Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Justice K.S.Hegde founded the NITTE Education Trust. He is the father of the present Chancellor of NITTE University. Shri.N.Vinay Hegde and former Lokayuktha Justice N.Santhosh Hegde.

Renjala Gopalakrishna Shenoy was a sculptor who breathed life into stone with his magic touch. He attempted to revive the school of sculpture belonging to the Bhairava dynasty during the 19th century. HE did sculptural wonders in his hometown Renjala. His creations at Sri. Venkataramana Temple Karkala and the Bahubali Statues at Dharmasthala brought him to fame.

A Special cover on the Karnataka Bronzeware was released on 20th March 2022 at Bengaluru.
The craft is practiced in Bengaluru, Kolar, Chitradurga and Mandya districts of Karnataka. Religious idols; temple bells, vessels, lamps and other ritual wares are cast in bronze. This craft is an amalgamation of art and science in creating poetic rendering of gods. The craftsman who makes the images in bronze are known as stapathies.
