Lions International Stamp Club - LISC - India Chapter # 3 has released a Special Postal Cover with Cancellation at Tharalu BO 560082 on 6th Jan 2011 on occation of 26th Scout-Guide Jamborette of Karnataka being held from 6th to 12th January 2011 with slogan "Scouting & Guiding for a Better Tomorrow" This will be the first special cover from the Karnataka Postal Circle for the year 2011.

Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctury

Permanent Pictorial Postal Cancellation of Daroji Sloth Bear was released on 05.01.2011 along with a special cover. This was released with a hope to popularise the International year of Forest (IYF 2011) This cancellation will be available at Hampi Kannada University Campus post office 583276 KAMALAPURA in Karnataka State.

India Post released a stamp on Lalit Kala Akademy on 31st Dec.2010. This is the second stamp to be released with the Rupee Symbol and will be the last stamp along with the stamp of Sekernar for this year.

Ice Breaker - Fennica

This is a maxim card, which I received through Postcrossing of the Ice Breaker - Ms Fennica. The cancellation is of ABOEX 94 a philatelic exhibition held in 1994.

 This was a perfect gift for me and a great way to wish me a Happy New Year 2011.

National Council of Education & Dr.Triguna Sen

India Post released a se-tenant stamp of  National Council of Education and Dr. Triguna Sen on 24th Dec.2010.


Dr. Triguna Sen was born on 24 December 1905 at Solhet (now part of Bangladesh) he was an eminent educationist ardent freedom fighter able administrator and good parliamentarian.  He was instrumental in establishing Jadavpur University at Kolkatta.  He was elected President Alumni Association of National Council of Education Bengal, Jadavpur University.  He was also Union Minister for education and Minister for Petroleum for brief spell.  He passed away on 11th January 1998.

Central Bank Of India & Bhai Jeevan Singh

India Post released two stamps on 23nd Dec.2010 on Central Bank Of India and Bhai Jeevan Singh.

Central Bank of India was founded on 21st December 1911 by Sir Sorabji Pochkhanawala a visionary.  It was his dream of setting up a ‘Swadeshi bank’ owned by Indians and for Indians.  On founding the Bank, Sir Sorabji proclaimed with pride that Central Bank was property of the Nation and the country’s asset. After the independence, the bank played a laudable role in the growth and development of country and improving the socio-economic status of people. Central Bank of India is celebrating its centenary year during December 2010.

Crafts Museum

A set of 2 stamp and a miniature sheet was released by India Post on 21st Dec. 2010 on Crafts Museum.

The Crafts Museum was established in 1956 as a resource centre for traditional Indian handicrafts and handlooms.  The aim of the Museum is to preserve Indian art or ethnography and to build a collection of craft specimens.  The Museum is housed in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi under aegis of Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, and Government of India.

 The Museum has a collection of 32000 artifacts.  Research and Development has been a regular activity of the Crafts Museum.  The Museum has completed 53 years of service in the field of handicrafts and handlooms and rendered yeoman service in the promotion of Indian heritage and culture.
