Russia Post issued a stamp to celebrate 800 years of Nizhny Novgorod on 18th April 2021 depicting some of its sights.

Nizhny Novgorod is the administrative center of the Nizhny Novgorod Region of Russia, the capital of the Volga Federal District, the center of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Volga-Vyatka Economic District. The population of the city is more than 1,270,000 people.

Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary - Picture Postcards.

 A Set of 10 picture Postcards of the Wildlife diversity of Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary was released by the Goa Region Maharashtra State of India Post.

BondlaWildlife Sanctuary is located in northeastern Goa, India in Ponda taluka. The total area of the park is 8 km2. It is a popular destination for both tourists and schoolchildren. A wide variety of animal life can be encountered, including: sambar deer, Indian bison, Malabar giant squirrel, Indian peafowl and many species of snakes.
Bondla provides sanctuary to leopards who have been injured in human-wildlife conflict, as well as "dancing" bears and cobras who, along with their trainers, need a new life after this treatment of endangered wildlife. Bondla zoo is known for its successful breeding of gaur. As it is the only zoo in Goa, many visit the zoo. Chilli Post – Attack on Chintapalle Police Station.

A Special cover was released on the Chilli Post – Attack on Chintapalle Police Station on 22nd August 2021 at Chintapalle.

Alluri Sitaramaraju has started his fight against British by attacking police stations in the tribal area in the then Vizagapatam District. His war against British popularly known as "Manya Viplavam" or 'Bampa Revolution" started with the attack on Chintapalle Police Station on 22.08.1922. Revolutionaries had a unique way of dispatching messages to the officials about their intended attack on the police stations by tying up the message along with a bunch of chillies to an arrow. They would shoot the arrow in the direction of the enemy 50, as to reach the message to the intended place. The revolutionaries called it "Mirapakaaya Tapa (Chilli-Post)" to create a scare to the British Government.

Atreyapuram Pootharekulu

 A Special Cover on the Atreyapuram Pootharekulu was released on 21st August 2021 at Atreyapuram.

Pootharekulu is a popular Indian sweet from Andhra Pradesh. The name of the recipe literally means 'coated sheet'. In Telugu - pootha means 'coating' and reku means 'sheet'. The sweet is wrapped in a wafer-thin rice starch layer resembling paper and is stuffed with jaggery, dry fruits and nuts. The sweet is popular for festivals, religious occasions and weddings in the Telugu states. It is believed that Atreyapuram has the history of making pootharekulu since three centuries as a cottage industry, where around 400 families are dependent on the making and marketing of this recipe. The annual turnover of the cottage industry is estimated 10 be around Rs. 3 crores.

Shri Neelakanthayya Godachayya Ganachari

 A Special cover was released on the Sarvodaya Saint Shri Neelakanthayya Godachayya Ganachari on 13th October 2021 at Sureban.

Born on 10th June, 1916 at Hosur in Savadatti Taluk, Belagavi District Sri.Neelakanthayya Godachayya Ganachari was a true Gandhian who led a simple life by walking bare footed, wearing Khadi Dhoti and consumint only goat's milk and groundnuts.He fought hard to eradicate bad habits of alcohol, tobacco chewing, Gowhatya and was therefore known as Sarvodaya Saint. He was instrumental in promoting Gandhi's vision of Gram Swaraj and Khadi. He passed away on 14th December 2009.

Bobbili Veena

 A Special cover on the Bobbili Veena was released on 14th September 2021 at Bobbili Bazar.


Veena is an age old popular musical instrument manufactured in Gollapalli Village in Vizianagaram District, Andhra Pradesh. Bobbili Veena is a large plucked string instrument used in Carnatic Classical Music. It is carved out of a single piece of jack wood. The veena is named after Bobbili, a place where it was invented in 17th Century. At that time, playing veena was a common practice in India, especially South India. Bobbili kings were fond of music and encouraged sarvasiddi craftsmen to make this musical instrument. The craftsmen carve out 200 to 300 miniature veenas a month while it takes 20 days for a craftsman to make a professional Veena. Bobbili Veena has given rise to Veena sampradayam, whose exponents have earned acclaim from Indian and international audience. Bobbili Veena is a heritage pride of Andhra Pradesh and occupies an esteemed place among several age-old Indian musical instruments.

The art of hand-woven textile Paithani brocades of more than 2000 years old. In the late 17th Century Raghujibaba Patil( Naik) the founder of Yeola city along with him some families among the expert weavers form Paithan to Yeola. It is said that the Pewhwas encouraged this fascinating art of Paithani and patronized the production in Yeola, making Yeola as important as Paithan. Yeola is a major handloom weaving centre and the Paithani silk sarees woven here find a prominent place in domestic market.

Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is the lifeline of the people of the State. The Corporation has been providing transport services for intra-State and Inter-State. The Corporation has rendered six decades of efficacious service and produced several milestones through its commuter friendly services. Specially during the COVID-19 pandemic. where buses were converted as mobile fever clinics, swab collection center. Ladies Toilet, Ambulance, Cancer Care Blood Bank and even buses filled with oxygen as 'Oxygen on Wheels' and converted as 'ICU on Wheels', Bus Station converted in association with Rotary as COVID care center to save precious lives as a part of corporate social responsibility. So also, KSRTC ferried freely more than a lakh migrant labourers and contributed as a frontline COVID warriors.

Naga Mircha

Byadagi Chilli

 A Special cover was released on the Byadagi Chilli at Byadagi on 6th September 2021.


The Byadgi Chilli (named after the town Byadgi in Haveri district of Karnataka) belongs to the genus Capsicum under Solanaceae family and species Capsicum annum. There are several types of Byadgi Chilli. The Byadgi Kaddi with negligible pungency is long, deep red in colour and develops wrinkles, while Byadgi Dabbi is medium in length and suitable for green chilli and dry chilli.

Dharmavaram Handloom Pattu Sarees & Paavadas

A Special cover on the Dharmavaram Handloom Pattu Sarees & Paavadas was released on the occasion of National Handloom day on 7th August 2021 at Vijayawada.

Dharmavaram and nearby villages in Anantapur dist of Andhra Pradesh weave silk sarees on handlooms. it is registered for Geo indication in 2010 for their unique feature of broad solid borders with contrast Pallus woven with brocaded golden patterns. Designs represent flowers, leaves, fruits, Peacocks, Elephants, pictures of epics like Ramayana, Mahabharata. 10,000 to 11,000 silk threads are used for saree. National Handloom Day is celebrated in commemoration of 'Swadeshi Movement' started on 07-08-1905 to support handlooms and use of Swadeshi goods.

Philately Day Celebrations - 2021 - Mangaluru.

As part of Philately Day, on 13th October 2021, Veteran Philatelist Sri.Baikady Srinivas Rao exhibited his collection of stamps on the theme "Patriotism" which included stamps on Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indra Gandhi and other leaders. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr.Angel Raj, SSPO, Mangaluru Division ( Addl. charge) in the presence of Mr. Sreenath Basrur, ASP, Mangaluru Division, Mr. Pradeep Kumar. Special Covers of Freedom Fighters - Mangaluru

Two special covers as part of  Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav were released on the local Freedom fighters at Ullal Post Office by Dr. Angel Raj, SSPO, Mangaluru ( Addl. Charge) on 13th October 2021.


Veerarani Abbakka, a magnetic woman of indomitable courage and patriotism was the first Tuluva Queen of Ullal in Karnataka who fought the Portuguese in the later half of the 16th century. the Portuguese made several attempts to capture Ullal as it was strategically placed but she repulsed each of tier attacks for four decades. The Queen's story has been retold from generations to generations through folk songs and Yakshagana, a popular form of folk theatre in Tulunadu. She is celebrated as a valiant woman warrior and Patriot.

A well educated legal luminary, social reformer, Sri. Karnad Sadashiva Rao was born in 1881 at Mangaluru in Karnataka. He founded the "Mahila Sabha" which was instrumental in bringing woman, specially widows out of their homes and break stereo types and engaged them in economically productive activities. he also worked for the upliftment of down trodden and was one among the first to volunteer for Gandhiji's Sathyagraha movement.
