House-Museum of A.P. Chekhov in Yalta

Russia Post issued a stamp on 4th October 2021 to celebrate 100th Anniversary of the House-Museum of A.P. Chekhov in Yalta.

The Anton Chekhov’s house received the official status of a museum in 1921. Chekhov’s sister Maria was appointed its supervisor.In 1966, a literature exhibition opened on the territory of the museum in a specially built building designed by architect Z.V. Peremilovsky. In 1974-1980, the House-Museum of Anton Chekhov in Yalta was closed for restoration. In 1983, new literature exhibition A. Chekhov’s Life and Writing opened. Presently, the House-Museum of A. Chekhov in Yalta State-Funded Institution is under the charge of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea.

Military uniform of the Red Army and Navy of the USSR - 1941

Russia Post released a new series of stamps on 21st September 2021 dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 is dedicated to the military uniform of the Red Army and the USSR Navy.

The postage stamp depicts soldiers in military uniforms of 1941: a Red Army soldier and the commander of a rifle company; a fighter pilot and an airplane mechanic; a loader, a tank commander and a driver mechanic; a messenger from the brigade headquarters and a duty officer on the ship.

Lion of Karnataka, Gangadhar Rao Balakrishna Deshpande

A Special cover on Lion of Karnataka, Gangadhar Rao Balakrishna Deshpande was released at Belagavi on 14th March 2022.

Gangadhar Rao Balakrishna Deshpande was known as lion of Karnataka and Khadi Bhajiratha. he was leader of Indian Independence movement against British Colonial Rule from Belgaum.During his indiginious movement of 1905-1906, Lokamanya Tilak and Mahatma Gandhi both worked for boycotting British goods, promotion of locally produced goods, promotion of National education and to oppose partition of Bengal. Deshmukh started the Khadi unit at Kumari Ashram near Hudali, the first unit in Karnataka.On the invitation of Deshpande to attend the Gandhi Seva Conference, Gandhi visited Hudali in 1937 and stayed there for 7 days.Hudali alos has Gandhi-Gangadhara Rao Memorial Bhavan where photos of Mahatma Gandhi and other National heroes are displayed.

 A Special cover on Veera Rani Belvadi Mallamma was released on 14th March 2022 at Belagavi.

Veera Rani Belvadi Mallamma was born in Bailhongai in Belgavi district of Karnataka. In a battle with Chatrapati Shivaji, the Desai of Belvadi lost his life. Rani Mallamma then led from the front. It is said that Mallamma looked like Goddess Jagadamba to Shivaji. The conflict ended with a reconciliation.

The history of domestic tractor construction - Crawler tractors

A Set of 4 stamps were released by Russia Post on the crawler tractors on 29th September 2021 depicting F.A. Blinov tractor (1896), S-60 "Stalinets" (1933), DT-54 (1949) and the CHETRA T40 bulldozer (2005).

Tractor is a self-propelled wheeled or tracked vehicle that performs agricultural, road construction, earth moving and other work independently or in an aggregate with trailed, mounted or stationary equipment.

Crawler tractors, unlike wheeled tractors, have a large traction force and high cross-country ability, at a low speed (5-40 km / h), they provide reduced pressure on the ground and, accordingly, better grip with the ground, they easily move off-road or rough ground areas. They are mainly used as tractors on tracks for work in fields, construction sites and logging.

Vazhakulam Pineapple.

 A Special cover on the Vazhakulam Pineapple was released on 19th February 2022 at Vazhakulam.

Vazhakulam Pineapple with a average fruit weight of 1.2 to 1.6 kgs, locally known as kannarachakka and grown chiefly in the Vazhakulam area of Muvattupuzha Taluk in Ernakulam District of Central Kerala, belongs to queen cultivar variety. The slightly cone shaped fruit has a pleasant aroma and crisp golden-yellow coloured flesh which yields delicious juice. Due to the salubrious combination of favourable agro-climatic conditions prevailing in the region, pineapple produced here has an irresistible savour that has won the patronage of thousands of discerning consumers all over the world.Low pest and disease incidence int he region demand practically very little use of permitted pesticides. The fruit is therefore ideal for consumption both in rae and processed forms like jam, squash, jelly, fortified juice and other types of fruit preserves.

Karkala Utsava

 Three Special covers were released on 8th March 2022 at Karkala on the occasion of Karkala Utsava.

Shri.K.Shyamaraya Acharya was an eminent sculptor of Karkala. Along with stone idols he also had his mastery over architecture. Wood carving was also his area of interest. He was honored with several State and National awards. He was the first president of the " Karnataka State Shilpakala Academy" His craftmanship can be seem in Karkala even today.

Justice Kowdoor Sadananda Hegde was an Indian Jurist and Politician who served as a judge in the Supreme Court of India and later a Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Justice K.S.Hegde founded the NITTE Education Trust. He is the father of the present Chancellor of NITTE University. Shri.N.Vinay Hegde and former Lokayuktha Justice N.Santhosh Hegde.

Renjala Gopalakrishna Shenoy was a sculptor who breathed life into stone with his magic touch. He attempted to revive the school of sculpture belonging to the Bhairava dynasty during the 19th century. HE did sculptural wonders in his hometown Renjala. His creations at Sri. Venkataramana Temple Karkala and the Bahubali Statues at Dharmasthala brought him to fame.

Sambar, State Animal of Odisha.

A Special Cover was released on Sambar, which is the State Animal of Odisha on 26th March 2022 at Bhubaneswar during EIPEX 2022.

The Sambar is a large deer native to the Indian subcontinent, South China and southeast Asia that is listed as a vulnerable species on the IUCN Red List since 2008.Populations have declined substantially due to severe hunting. local insurgency and industrial exploitation of habitat. Sambar are nocturnal or crepuscular. The males live alone for much of the year, and the females live in small herds of up to 16 individuals. Sambar is the State animal of Odisha. They prefer forest, marshy and wooded areas. They are commonly found near water, where they can forage for water plants. They like the dense cover of deciduous shrubs and grasses.

It is awarded to cities of the Russian Federation whose residents " made a significant contribution to achieving Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, ensuring uninterrupted production of military and civilian products at industrial enterprises located on the territory of the city, and at the same time showing mass labor heroism and dedication."

Karnataka Bronzeware

 A Special cover on the Karnataka Bronzeware was released on 20th March 2022 at Bengaluru.

The craft is practiced in Bengaluru, Kolar, Chitradurga and Mandya districts of Karnataka. Religious idols; temple bells, vessels, lamps and other ritual wares are cast in bronze. This craft is an amalgamation of art and science in creating poetic rendering of gods. The craftsman who makes the images in bronze are known as stapathies.
