Jewellers of Russia

Russia Post released a set of 4 stamps on Jewelers of Russia on 26th July 2018.


Faberage:
A silver korchik, by the Firm Faberage, the decoration of which a significant role is assigned to state symbolism. The front part of the body is a spectacular image of a two-headed eagle under the three imperial crowns in the volumetric interpretation. It is also decorated with a large emerald of 7.21 carats. Particularly highlighted is the chased image of St. George the Victorious - the emblem of Moscow, placed on the eagle's chest. The embossed monogram of Nicholas II, located on the handle of the tip, completes it, enhances the decor of the product as a whole.

Khlebnikov:
a gilded salt shaker by the firm Khlebnikov, in the form of an old chair with a back, with a folding wide seat, on four figured legs. The back is decorated with ribbon floral and geometric patterns characteristic of the Russian style.

Ovchinnikov:
breadcrumbs in the form of wicker baskets with elegant towels or fringed napkins thrown on them by the firm Ovchinnikov.

Sazikov:
“Troika” silver sculpture composition, made by I.P. Sazikov in Moscow in the 1870s according to the model of sculptor Ye. A. Lancere. It is a galloping horse harnessed to a sleigh, driven by peasant drivers. Cast figures are distinguished by exceptional purity of work, thoroughness of modeling.

Russia has such a grand tradition of fine jewelry. I wish the stamp issue was able to include modern jewelers to show the tradition continues
