Telineelapuram Bird Sanctuary is located in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, India. Telineelapuram has become a seasonal resort for the winged tourists. Every year, over 3000 migratory birds such as painted storks, adjutant storks and spot billed pelicans travel more than 6000 KM to make their way to this sanctuary from Germany, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Siberia in Russia and Hungary. The migration happens mostly in October every year. The birds stay in the sanctuary for seven months during which they lay eggs and hatch them. They leave the sanctuary between March to May along with their new-born babies, As observed by Researchers on Ornithology, the migratory movement of birds was first noticed over 15 years ago when the number of-birds was around 10000, which now reduced to around 3000. Locals call these birds as 'Divine Birds'.
