Winemaking - Joint Issue of Russia and Bulgaria

Russia Post released a set of 2 stamps as Joint issue between Russia and Bulgaria on Wine making depicting clusters of the Russian grape variety “Floral” and the Bulgarian grape variety “Ruby Kailyshki” against the backdrop of landscapes of vineyards.

Winemaking is a technological process of making wine from grapes, as well as from other fruits and berries.

In Russia, grapes are grown in the Crimea, Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, in the Caucasus, in the Astrakhan, Volgograd, Rostov and Saratov Regions. One of the popular Don varieties is "flower", a technical grape variety with increased resistance to disease and frost. It was bred at the All-Russian Research Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking named after Ya.I. Potapenko.

Bulgaria is a country of winemakers, one of the twenty countries with the largest vineyard area. Five major wine regions stand out - the Danube Plain, the Thracian Lowland, the Valley of Roses, the Valley of the Struma River and the Black Sea. A popular variety - “Kaylyshki ruby”, is a red technical grape variety obtained at the Pleven Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking.
