Russian Arts and Crafts - Porcelain Tiles.

On 4th August 2015 Russia Post released a set of 4 stamps depicting porcelain tiles from various regions of Russia.
Porcelain tiles are architectural ceramic (clay) items in a form of box plates or curvilinear parts. In Russia, ceramic decorative tablets were used to decorate palaces, cathedrals and churches. The main subjects of porcelain tiles were hunting and battle scenes, heroes of folk tales, fables and Russian epics, real and fantasy animals and Slavic mythological characters. The tiles are of regions as follows:

Moscow. 19th – 20th century
Abramtsevo, Moscow oblast. 19th – 20th century
Turygino, Moscow oblast. 21th century
Yaroslavl. 17th - 18th century.
