Postcrossing at Karnapex 2015.

Karnapex 2015 had an exclusive booth for Postcrossing this time. Postmaster General of North Karnataka, Mr.Bishnu Sarangi and his team has taken special interest in this direction. Many of the Public and the school children were keen to know more about Postcrossing.

Karnapex - 16.01.2015 - 2

A Special Cover on Mars Orbiter Mission, India's First Mission to Mars was issued on 16th January 2015 at Karnapex 2015. Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, handed over the cover to the Chief Minister. Another special cover on Centenary celebration of Clock Tower, Virajpet was also released in the afternoon session.

Books on Collectors Guide to Special Covers of Karnataka (1960-2014), Mysore Anche ( Mysore Post) and Stamps on Karnataka were also released on the occasion.

Karnapex - 16.01.2015 - 1

Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri. Siddaramaiah inaugurated Karnapex-2015,Philatelic Exhibition organized by Karnataka Postal Circle with the active support of Karnataka Philatelic Society on 16th January 2015 at Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium. Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, Ex-Chairman, ISRO was the Guest of  Honor of function. The day was celebrated as Vigyan Diwas. Exhibits in over 600 frames are on display. There was good response from the general public and students from various schools were also seen.

On the first day 12 Special Covers on Renaming of the 12 cities of Karnataka. They are Bengaluru (Bangalore), Belagavi (Belgaum), Ballari (Bellary), Viajyapura (Bijapur), Chikkamagaluru (Chikmanglur), Kalaburagi (Gulbarga), Hosapete (Hospet), Hubballi (Hubli), Mangaluru (Mangalore), Mysuru (Mysore), Shivamogga (Shimoga), Tumakuru (Tumkur)]. All 12 cities names were changed with effect from 1st November 2014 vide special gazette notification issued on eve of the 59th Karnataka Rajyotsava.

Karnapex 2015 - Daily Programmes

Silverpex 2015 - Silver Jubilee of Cannanore Philatelic Club.

A special cover on Arakkal Palace was released in Kannur, Kerala on the occasion of  the Silver jubilee celebrations of Cannanore Philatelic Club on 9th January 2015.

The cover has the images of Arakkal Palace, the house of Ali Rajas of Cannanore, gold and silver coins minted by this royalty and the royal seal as the cancellation. Arakkal family began to rule Cannanore owing allegiance to the Kolathiri Rajas and by the middle of the 16th century became a sovereign power.

A special cover was released on 8th December 2014 at the Rajgor's Coin Festival, Panaji, Goa featuring coins of  Goa.

Wheelathon 2015

Kerala Postal Circle issued a Special Cover on Wheelathon 2015 at Calicut/Kozhikode on 8th January 2015.

It is said to be the first ‘Wheel Chair Carried Cover'. Students in Palliative Care, in association with the Institute of Palliative Medicine, organised ‘Wheelathon 2015’which was was held to create awareness on the importance of the Palliative Care movement in long-term patient care.The funds raised through the sales of the Special Covers will be used for palliative care activities.

100 years of Mahatma Gandhi's Return

A set of 2 stamp and a miniature sheet was released on 8th January 2015 to commemorate 100 years of  Mahatma Gandhi's return to India.The stamp was released by Prime Minister Sri. Naraendra Modi at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat.

Coral Paradise.

 India Post released a special cover at Kavarati, Lakshadweep on 29th December 2014.

The union Territory of Lakshadweep, the smallest \union Territory is an archipelago consisting of 36 islands, islets and sandbanks with an area of 32 sq. km. Lakshadweep is known as a Coral Paradise and also known for its distinct culture, exotic and sun-kissed beaches and lust green landscape.

SILVERPEX - 2015

India Stamp Release - 2014

The year 2014 had 22 stamp issues, with 4 miniature sheets. Indian Museum, Kolkata was not issued in sheets and it was only in the form of Miniature sheet. There were 33 stamps and 15 of them were of personalities (including Indian Musicaians), which again makes it about 45% of personalities. Hope to see more interesting issues in 2015.
