Organ Donation Day
A special cover was released to celebrate the 9th Indian Organ Donation Day at Bengaluru on 27th November 2018. Organ donation is the gift of an organ to a person with end stage organ disease and who needs a transplant. The organs that can be donated are Liver, Kidney, Pancreas, Heart, Lung, Intestine. The tissues that can be donated are: Cornea, Bone, Skin, Heart Valve, Blood Vessels, Nerves and Tendon, etc.
The Chief guests on the dais Dr. Kishore Phadke, Dr. Pushparaj and Dr. Prabhakar shared information about the organ donation and as presently India is lacking in donors , a need for creating awareness is crucial. They explained about the organs going waste by cremating or burying the body can give life to as many as seven people. The Doctors on the Dias also clarified many doubts of the audience like critical organs like Liver, Kidney, Pancreas, Heart, lungs etc. can be used from a brain-dead person, after many teams of doctors certify that the person is brain-dead and that the patient cannot survive without ventilators and after consent of the family members. Doctors also explained that only organs like cornea can be taken from a dead person. Members of the donor’s family and organ recipients who attended the function shared their motivating experiences. Canara Girls High School.
A special cover was released on 19th November 2018 at Mangaluru during the Founder's Day celebrations to comemmorate 125 years of Canara Girls High School.
Canara Girls High School, is one of the oldest educational institutions on Mangaluru, was founded by Ammembal Subba Rao Pai in 1894. He is alos the founder of Canara Bank. now a major nationalised Bank in India.

Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cathedral
A special cover was released as part 0f the 450th year celebration of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cathedral on 18th November 2018 at Mangaluru.
The Portuguese landed at Bengare, Mangaluru in 1568 AD. They built Fort St.Sebastio and also a chapel in it, later it came to be known as "Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church". The 17th Century Royal emblem of the King of Portuguese marking thier landing in Mangaluru is now seen at the entrance of the Cathedral. On April 16, 1850, the church was raised to the status of a Cathedral. Fr, Henry T Buzzoni S.J. Parish priest and Sr. Divo S.J completed the present day magnificent ediffice in 1915.

Mysuru Dasara Exhibition: 11th October 2018
Dasara Exhibition is one of the major tourist attractions of Mysuru Dasara. The exhibition site is just opposite to the Mysuru palace spread over a sprawling campus which includes stalls of various interests. Originally introduced by the Maharaja of Mysore in the year 1880 to convey to people the developments in the state, it has now become an integral part of Mysuru Dasara celebrations. Exhibition goes on well after the Dasara for a period of three months.

Mysuru Mallige: 12th October 2018
'Mysuru mallige' is a jasmine flower variety grown in and around Mysuru. It was recognized with G.I.Tag in the year 2007. The uniqueness of this flower is its fragrance which lasts long. The flower carries the botanical name "Jasminum grandiflorum".

Torch Light Parade: 13th October 2018
The 'torchlight parade' known as Panjina Kavayathu is the concluding
program of Mysuru Dasara held on the night of Vijaya Dashami with the
culmination of Jamboo savari. Originally introduced to showcase the
military capabilities. It is now one of the main attractions of Mysuru
Dasara. A visual treat, it includes torchlight parade by Police
personnel, daredevil bike rides and laser show.

Palaces of Mysuru: 17th October 2018
Yaduraya built the first palace in Mysuru in 14th century CE.After
several reconstructions,the present palace, the Amba Vilas was
constructed during 1897 to 1912. Mummadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar built
Jaganmohan palace in 1861. Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar built Jayalakshmi
vilas, Cheluvamba Mansion and Karanji Mansion.Lalith Mahal was built
for special guests.Rajendra vilas palace was built on Chamundi hill for
stay of Royals during visits to the hill.

Mysuru Pak: 17th October 2018
Mysuru pak was an accidental invention by Palace cook Kakasura Madappa. Said to be first prepared in the royal kitchens during Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar's regime, the cook named it Mysuru Paaka on being asked by the King. This has now become the traditional delicacy of Mysuru and has acclaimed fame due to its mouth watering taste. The descendents of Kakasura Madappa still make this sweet.

Mike Chandru, the town crier, is a well known face in Mysuru city. He has kept a dying profession alive. Being a lone crusader in this age of modern communication systems he moves around the city in a horse carriage, with a mike making announcement for a drama, sports events wrestling matches and political events. Though close to 70 years of age, he also dons attires to suit the advertisements to attract crowds. He is an integral part of heritage of Mysuru city.

Haifa Heroes: 19th October 2018
The cavalry regiments of Hyderabad, Jodhpur and Mysore fought a valiant and daring battle at Haifa to liberate the port city on the Mediterranean coast on 23'" September 1918. This battle is considered to be the last war fought on cavalry, wherein the lancers overcame the enemy troops possessing machine guns. Indian Army observes 23rd September each year as Haifa Day. As part of centenary celebrations, Government of Israe1 released a commemorative stamp this year.

Mysuru Style Painting: 20th October 2018
Mysuru style painting is a traditional style of painting that grew after the fall of Vijayanagar through artists who migrated. It is known for detailing. Drawn on paper,cloth and walls using traditional colours, gold plating is done to preserve the grandeur over a long time. Name of the artist is not seen on the painting.The mural paintings can be seen on the walls of palaces in Mysuru.

Dasara Gombe: 20th October 2018
Dasara Gombe is an orderly arrangement of dolls made of clay in a tiered platform normally containing 9 steps. This is a tradition followed from generations in almost every family in this region. Dolls of various themes are collected and skillfully displayed over a 9 day period during Dasara. The main dolls are those of King and Queen made of wood called PATTADA GOMBE which are dressed up in attractive designs. This tradition owes its origin to the Vijaya Nagara era.

World Sight Day

Sri Venkateswara Swamy Vari Navaratri Brahmotsavams - 3
A set of 2 special cover was released on Simha Vahanam and Muthyapuy Pandiri Vahanam on the occasion of Sri Venkateswara Swamy Vari Navaratri Brahmotsavams 2018 at Thirumala on 12th October 2018.
Lord Malayappa Swamy goes in the procession, alone on the Simha Vahana. In the form of lion Mahavishnu has given protection and wealth to devotees from all evils. Vishnu killed the cruel Hiranyakasipa in form of Narasimha. Simha stands for the ability to carry and move the lion vahana stands for the end of evil one, and protection of the devotees.

On pearl bower car Malayappa Swamy goes in the procession in the Mada streets of the temple Tirumala, accompanied by his two deiteis Sridevi and Bhudevi. The pearls always emanate brightness and coolness because they are always in bright white color. Swamy appears in the pearl bower car in the guise of Sri Krishna, who shears Bakasura's beak and punishes the evil one.

World Rabies Day
A special cover was released to celebrate World Rabies Day on 28th September 2018 at Bengaluru.
World Rabies Day is celebrated every year on 28th September. It is the
death anniversary of Louis Pasteur, who developed the first rabies
vaccine and laid the foundations of rabies prevention. It is a day to
raise awareness about rabies and its prevention.

Sri Venkateswara Swamy Vari Navaratri Brahmotsavams - 2
A special cover was released on Chinna Sesha Vahanam and Hamsa Vahanam on the occasion of Sri Venkateswara Swamy Vari Navaratri Brahmotsavams 2018 at Thirumala on 11th October 2018.
On Hamsa Vahanam delighting the devotees in the form of Godess of learning Saraswati holding her Veena, Swamy goes on the mada streets of Tirumala. The wan whose great reputation is born of the skill of clearly distinguishing the milk from water is symbolic to distinguish good fronm the bad, the individual soul free from human bondage. On this vahana Swamy looks like Paramahamsa, the great preacher.

The Chinna Shesa Vahanam procession contains of five hooded Aadi Sesha. It is out said that Sesha is born of a spark of Narayana. Adishesha took the form of a hill as proper habitation for God. Swamy built his Ananda Nilaya on this hill. Such is the affinity between Asi Sesha and the Lord. It is on ths vahanam that the Lord makes a feast to the eyes of the devotees.

Monumental Art of the Moscow Metro.
A set of 4 stamps was released by Russia Post depicting the Monumental Art of the Moscow Metro on 29th June 2018 depicting S.V. Goryaev, "The Church of St. Tryphon" at "Maryina Roshcha" station, Z. K. Tsereteli. "Victory in the War of 1812" at "Park Pobedy station, P. D. Korin "Alexander Nevsky" at "Komsomolskaya" station and Deineka. "24-Hour Soviet Sky" at "Mayakovskaya station.
The Moscow Metro is a public transport, which opened on May 15, 1935. Many stations of the Moscow Metro are monuments of architecture. Outstanding masters created an amazing underground ensemble, characterized by cheerful character, unique images, and beautiful architectural compositions. Engineering thought and the artist's inspiration combined here in harmony. Renowned architects and artists took part in designing and decorating metro stations.

A special cover was released on Pedda Sesha Vahan on the occasion of Sri Venkateswara Swamy Vari Navaratri Brahmotsavams 2018 at Thirumala on 10th October 2018.
The procession diety Malayappa Swamy will go on procession on big seven-hooded golden Seshavahana. The lord of the serpents, Adisesha, bears the massive weight of the globe with its thousand hoods, who dispels sins and who acts as bed for Lord Vishnu. God Seshi ( The Savior) and the others are Sesha Bhooth. The Lord preaches this concept of Sesha_Seshi.
