Baba Amte

India Post released a stamp of Baba Amte on 30th December 2014.

Baba Amte was born as Murlidhar Devidas Amte who was a social activist known particularly for his work for the rehabilitation and empowerment of poor people suffering from leprosy.He was a staunch follower of Mahatma Gandhi.

 

Baba Amte was awarded Padma Shri in 1971, Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1985, Padma Vibhushan in 1986 and Gandhi Peace Prize in 1999. He was also awarded the United Nations Prize in the Field of Human Rights in 1988 and many other awards for his social work.

Kuka Movement.

India Post released a stamp on 150 years of Kuka Movement on 24th December 2014.

INS CIRCARS - Platinum Jubilee.

A special cover was released in Visakhapatnam to celebrate the Platinum jubilee of INS Circars on 12th December 2014.

Coat of Arms of Krasnodar Region.

Russia Post released a Souvenir sheet of the Coat of arms of Krasnodar region on 18th September 2014. The stamp depicts the coat of arms, and in the margins the emblem of the Krasnodar Territory and the map of the Russian Federation with the area marked in red.

 

Main Centre for Special Communications

Russia Post released a stamp of Main Centre for Special Communications on 18th September 2014. The stamp features the logo of the Main Centre of Special Communication and branded cars with the building in the background.

 

Andpex - 2014

700th Birth Anniversary of Venerable Sergius of Radonezh.

Russia Post released a souvenir sheet to commemorate 700th Birth Anniversary of Venerable Sergius of Radonezh on 16th September 2014.

Sergius of Radonezh,  Russian church monk, founder of the Trinity Monastery near Moscow (now Trinity-Sergius Lavra), venerated saints in the church as a monk, and is considered the greatest devotee of the Russian land.

The souvenir sheet depicts a procession led by St. Sergius of Radonezh in the background of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra in the sky - flock of pigeons (followers and disciples of St. Sergius). Showing historical figures (from left to right) - Grand Duke Dmitry Donskoy, a legendary warrior monk Alexander Peresvet and modern Orthodox people who are in front of a lighted candle.

Church of the Ascension in Kolomenskoe

Russia post released a souvenir sheet depicting the Church of the Ascension in Kolomenskoe on 5th September 2014.

It is a masterpiece of world architecture, the first Orthodox stone church marquee in Russia. Built in 1528-1532 by Italian architects on the right bank of the Moskva River in the village of Kolomenskoye.

The composition of the structure, a total height of 62 m, is centric in nature. The internal space is small, but due to the lack of columns and pillars, it seems quite voluminous.In the Soviet era, the church was turned into a museum complex "Kolomenskoye Estate", and in 1994 - in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

450th Anniversary of Book-Printing in Russia.

On 3rd September 2014 Russian Post released a stamp to commemorate 450th Anniversary of Book-Printing in Russia.

The stamp depicts a reversal of the book "The Apostle" 1564 stored in the State Public Historical Library of Russia, in the background of Russian Cyrillic letters is seen.

History of the Russian Uniforms.

On 1st September 2014 Russian Post released a set of 4 stamps on Russian Uniforms.

Khalkhin Goal

A stamp depicting  Khalkhin Goal was released by the Russian Post on 28th August 2014 to commemorate 75 years of the Victory of the Soviet-Mongolian Troops over the Japanese Aggressors.

World Diabetic Day.

A special cover was released on 17th November 2014 at Bangalore on the occasion World Diabetic day to create awareness about Diabetes.

Shree Kashi Vishwanath Seva Samity - Platinum Jubilee.

A special cover was released on 30th November 2014 at Kolkata to celebrate the platinum jubilee of  Sri Kashi Vishwanath Seva Samity.

Shree Kashi Vishwanath Seva Samity was established in the year 1939 as a Social welfare Organsiation to provide various special services to the people at large in Kolkata and nearby areas.

It maintains a fleet of water tankers, engaged for supplying filtered drinking water to hospitals and to gatherings of social, religious, political and other nature. It provides valuable services to Gangasagar pilgrims during Sankranti and to yatris going to Tarakeshwar, organises relief camp during flood and earthquake and runs free homeapathy dispensary.

National Federation of Postal Employees

A special cover was released by the Odisha Circle to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of National Federation of Postal Employees by AIPEU, Group C, Bhubaneshwr Division on 2nd November 2014.

The Post and Telegraph Trade Union Movement initiated during 1905 later became recognized as National Federation of Posts and Telegraph Employees (NFPTE) on 224th November 1954 after years of uncompromising struggles and sacrifices for the benefit of the whole working class in general and P&T employees in particular. Consequent upon separation of P&T Department to Department of Posts and Department of Telecommunications in February 1986. NFTE was bifurcated to National Federation of Postal Employees (NFPE) and National Federation of Telecommunication Employees (NFTE). With its glorious history and tradition, NFPE constituting nearly 75% membership of the Department of Posts is committed to serve the postal workers to improve their economic and service conditions.

India Post released a stamp on Sagol Kangjei on 29th November 2014.

India - Slovenia Joint Issue.

India Post issued a set of stamp and Miniature sheet jointly with Slovenia on 28th November 2014 to commemorate 25th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Stamp designs are based on the paintings of  Sara Zivkovick of Slovenia and Roshan Anvekar of  India.

Special cover on V.R.Krishna Iyer was released at Ernakulam on 28th November 2014.

 The Centenarian Sri. Vaidyanathapuram Ramakirishna Iyer, popular asJustice V. R. Krishna Iyer born on 15-11-1915 is the former judge ofSupreme Court of India.  A born spokesman of law, the jurist of the jurists, a prolific writer, a fiery orator and an advocate of humanrights.  Even at his 100th year of age, he is actively engaged in allSocio-legal movement at his residence "Sadgamaya', a light house forthe emerging generation.

His Majesty's Ship, Thailand.

A set of 4 stamp and a Souvenir Sheet was released on His Thai Majesty's Ship on 20th November 2014.

The commemorative sheet is designed with the concept of "His Thai Majesty's Ship" and four ships on stamps were granted names that are relevant to Chakri Dynasty - H.T.M.S. Chakri Narubet number 911 commissioned on March 20, 1997, H.T.M.S. Phutthayodfachulalok number 461 commissioned on July 30, 1994, H.T.M.S. Putthaloetlanaphalai number 462 commissioned on November 27, 1996 and H.T.M.S. Pinklao number 413 commissioned on August 31, 1959.

Furthermore, the image of H.T.M.S. Chakri Naruebet is presented on the Souvenir Sheet. She was the first Helicopter carrier of Thai Royal Navy with the size of 182.60 x 30.50 meters are a draught of 6.25 meters. Her construction took place in Spain in 1993. H.T.M.S. Chakri Naruebet was launched by her Majesty Queen Sirikit in 1996 and His Majesty the King anointed her nameplates in 1997, and gave the name Chakri Naruebet which translates "In Sovereign of the Chakri Dynasty".

A special cover was released on 19th November 2014 during the Malappurampex - 2014 on Conolloy's Plot.

Special Cover - Conolly's plot - The oldest teak plantation in the world - situated in Nilambur, Malappuram District.It is named after H V Conolly, the Malabar District Collector between 184-1855 during the British rule, who was instrumental in planting tek in the entire Nilambur area.The cancellation is of the hanging bridge in Conolly's plot.

150 YEARS OF FORT GIRLS' MISSION HIGH SCHOOL:

Fort Girls' Mission High School, Thiruvantnthapuram was founded by Ms.Augusta Mary Blanford of Churuch of England Zenana Missionary Societyon 3rd November 1864 with the blessings of Ayilyam Tirunal Rama Varma.The school was initially known as "Vadakke Kottaram Pallikoodam" and later changed as Zenana Mission School.  On its elevation to thestatus of Girls' High School in 1951, its name was again changed as Fort Girls Mission High School.  This Special Cover is brought out tomark the completion of 150 years of its inception.
