"Karnataka" - Philatelic Exhibition.
Karnataka Philately Society and India Post Karnataka Circle, will be jointly organising a Philatelic exhibition on the theme "Karnataka" at Vismaya' Hall of MG Road Metro Station from 1st November to10th November 2014 from 11.00 AM to 07.00 PM daily except on Tuesday. The inaugural ceremony will be at 11.00 A.M on 1st November. It is also proposed to release a special cover during the exhibition.

Wild cats of Russia.
Russia Post released a set of 4 stamp on Felines, a family of mammalian order Carnivora on 1st August 2014.The stamps depicts Pallas, Forest Cat, Amur cat and Jungle cat.Curently Russia has 8 cat species like snow leopard, tiger, leopard (panther), Pallas cat, lynx, Amur cat (Bengal subspecies), jungle cat and leopard cat.

Australia’s first victory at sea during World War I.
Australian post released a set of 2 stamp commemorating its first victory at sea during World War I on 14th October 2014.
Australia’s first victory at sea during World War I was also the first engagement by a warship of the fledgling Royal Australian Navy. The Battle of Cocos took place on 9 November 1914 when the Australian light cruiser HMAS Sydney responded to an attack by the German light cruiser SMS Emden on a communications station at Direction Island in the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.

Mail Motor Service, Pune - Golden Jubilee.
A special cover was released on 2nd October 2014 to celebrate the golden jubilee of Mail Motor Serivice or Pune.
Mail Motor Service is most vital part of Department of Posts. this is the lifeline to procure mail to all Post offices. This lifeline is working day and night since 1964 and completing 50 years of service.

Madikeri Dasara Committee - Golden Jubilee Celebration.
A special cover was released to celebrate the golden jubilee of Madikeri Dasara Committee on 29th September 2014.
Madikeri Dasara has the history of 150 years. Kodagu rulers started karaga Yaatra during Navarathri around the town wishing the well being of the people which was followed by Dasara. Official committee of Dasara was formed 50 years ago followed by Navarathri Utsav and Shobha yatra of 10 mantaps on Vijayadashami day.

Philately Day Celebrations, Bangalore. - Special Cover
Philately Day was celebrated in Bangalore on 13th October 2014. There was a philatelic exhibition and a release of Special cover at the venue.
The first stamps valid for postage throughout India were placed on sale in October 1854 featuring a youthful profile of Queen Victoria. These were designed and printed in Calcutta and was issued without perforations or gum. The 4 Anna variety stamp is one of the World's first bicoloured stamps.

Khajuraho Meet Of Jainism Philately Group
Jainism Philately Group (JPG), an organization of Philatelists collecting Jainism and allied themes, had organized a Members Meet & Get-to-gather at world famous temple city Khajuraho (M.P.) on 5th Oct. 2014. Total 91 parsons attended this meet from various States of India.JPG had organized free lodging, boarding, Satna - Khajuraho and local transportation for all the participants.
In the morning, participants visited all the important temples in three groups along with the expert guides. After lunch, meeting was started at 3 PM in the Jain temples complex presided by the National Chairman Mr. Sudhir Jain (Satna, M.P.). Meeting was conducted by Vice Chairman Dr. Pradip Jin (Balod, Chattisgarh). And Mr. Pramod Kumar Jain (Pondicherry).given welcome speech.

Dhor (Jaipur), Mr. Hemant Bafna (Pune), Mrs. Meena Mutha (Mumbai), Mr. Arvind Jain (Ajmer), Mr. Shantilal Hiran (Nasik), Mr. Hemant Jain (Mandla), Mr. Tej Singh Chaudhry (Jodhpur), Mr. Prakash Chasuksi (Udaipur), Mr. Vijay Singh Jamed (Kishangarh), Mr. Tejkaran Jain (Rajnandgaon),, Mr. Anil Jain (Ajmer), Mr. Ganesh Oswal (Pune), Mr. Nirmal Jain (Satna), Mr. Vijay Modi (Himmatnagar), Mr. Pragya Kothari (Patna) etc. given valuable suggestions which includes -
1. Pictorial cancellation seals used at various important places are in very bad condition. Related PMGs should be persuaded for new one.
2. Special cancellations should be affixed on all the outgoing mails on that particular date.
3. Director Philately should be requested not to issue many higher denomination stamps.
4. A multicolour book should be published bearing images of all the philatelic material related to Jainism
5. Philatelic Workshops should be organized in the schools of various cities
6. Try to add one liner slogens in the Postal Receipts of different Post Offices
7. To peruse for release of some stamps on Jain architecture, principles and personalities.
Members celebrated 60th anniversary of Mr. Sudhir Jain, Chairman JPG. Mr. Sudhir Jain announced that he will financial help to 60 poor students every year. Mrs. Meera Jain wife of Late Philatelist Naresh Kumar Jain of Patna, who had prepared first collection on Jainism 30 years ago, was also honoured by JPG.
A beautiful kit, bearing many special covers, pictorial cancellations, pre independence postal stationary, packed coins, set of Khajuraho idols, book and picture post cards, philatelic calendar and literature etc. was distributed to all the participants.It was a memorable event enjoyed by all. Next meet has been finalized at Udaipur after one year.

Philately Day - Bangalore.
Philately Day is being
observed on 13.10.2014 during National Postal Week. The Philately Day
celebrations have been organized at Meghdoot Auditorium, Bangalore GPO
at 4.00 PM on 13.10.2014. A special cover on "160 years of Postal
Stamps in India " is being released on this occasion.
The Second level of
talks on zonal level philately exhibition has also been organized.
Hence,
it is requested to all philatelists on behalf of India
Post and KPS to attend the PHILATELY DAY CELEBRATIONS and make it a grand
success.

300 years of the victory of the Russian fleet in the naval battle of Gangutski
Russia Post released a souvenir sheet on 1st august 2014 to commemorate 300 years of the victory of the Russian fleet in the naval battle of Gangutski.
Gangut battle - the naval battle of the Great Northern War of 1700-1721., Which took place on July 27, 1714 at Cape Hango (Hanko peninsula, Finland) in the Baltic Sea between the Russian and Swedish fleets.The Souvenir sheet depicts the battle scene which is from the collection of the State Hermitage.

World Post Day.
World Post Day is celebrated on 9 October and marks the founding of the Universal Postal Union in 1874.It was declared World Post Day by UPU Congress held in Tokyo, Japan in 1969.

Many Posts use the event to introduce or promote new postal products and services. Open days are held as are flag-raising ceremonies. Some Posts also use World Post Day to reward their employees for good service.This year the Universal Postal Union celebrates its 140th anniversary on 9 October.For countries participating in the UPU International Letter-writing Competition for children, national winners are often honoured on 9 October.
