Mahendra Singh Dhoni

A special cover was released at Bengaluru GPO on 29th August 2020 on Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the occasion of National Sports Day 2020 as an honour to India's most successful captain.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has captained the Indian Cricket team in all formats of the game and has the unique distinction of leading the team to victory in the World T20 Championship in 2007, World Cup on 2011 and ICC Champions Trophy in 2013. He also led India to the number one position for the first time in OCC test rankings. M.S.Dhoni has overseen 27 test match victories, 110 ODI Wins and 42 T20 International successes.

75th Anniversary of the United Nations Organization

 Russia Post released a stamp on 22nd May 2020 to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations Organization depicting an image of the "Let Us Beat Swords into Plowshares" sculpture by E. Vuchetich in New York and a 75th Anniversary of the UNO emblem.

The United Nations Organization is an international organization that aims to maintain and enforce international peace and security, develop cooperation among states. Established in 1945, the UN currently has 193 member states. The USSR was one of the founding countries of the organization and its member since the establishment of the UN.The official languages of the UN and its organizations are English, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, French and Spanish. The UN headquarters is located in New York.

75th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Russia Post released a souvenir sheet which is a Joint issue of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War on 8th May 2020

125th anniversary of invention of the Radio

Russia Post released a stamp on 7th May 2020 to celebrate 125th anniversary of invention of the Radio depicting an image of a radio set of 1895 from the collection of the A.S. Popov Central Museum of Communications.

Radio is a form of information wireless transmission where information carrier is radio waves freely distributed in space. In May 7, 1895, at a meeting of the Russian Physicochemical Society in St.Petersburg, Russian scientist and inventor, physicist and electrical engineer Alexander S. Popov delivered a comprehensive report and demonstrated the operation of the world's first radio receiver.

Soviet Soldier Memorial in Rzhev

 Russia Post released a stamp depicting an image of  Soviet Soldier Memorial in Rzhev on 7th May 2020.

The Soviet Soldier Memorial in Rzhev was put up near the village of Khoroshevo of the Rzhevsky District in the Tver Region, on the site of fierce battles of World War II in 1942–1943. Sanguinary battles along the perimeter of the Rzhev-Vyazemsk salient lasted 14 months.

UNESCO World Heritage - Cultural Sites.

 A set of 5 stamp and a miniature sheet was issued by India Post on 15th August 2020 on the cultural sites of India under the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India III depicting Historic city of Ahmedabad - Sarkhej Roza, Churches and convents of Goa - Church of Born Jesus, group of monuments at Pattadakal, Khajuraho group of monuments and Qutub Minar and its groups of monuments.

 A special cover was released on the occasion of 44th International Kolkata Book Fair on 3rd February 2020 at Kolkata.

A special cover was released with the message of War with Covid 19 by the Rajiv Gandhi University for Heath Science during its silver jubilee celebrations on 1st June 2020 in Bengaluru.

 

The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka has proactively participated in Prevention, Control and Management of COVID-19. It has organized online training to more than 1.5lakh participants and is launching the "Innovation Challenge on COVID-19"-Hackathon as a curtain raiser to the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the University. The contributions of the University in Health Care Education in general and COVID-19 in particular has received wide acclaim.

State Russian Museum

Russia Post released as souvenir sheet on the 125th Anniversary of the State Russian Museum on 19th May 2020 depicting image of the Mikhailovsky palace and tthe portrait of Alexaner III by I.N. Kramskoy (State Russian Museum, 1886).

The Russian Museum is the world's largest museum of Russian art, a unique architectural and art ensemble in the historical center of St. Petersburg.

Russia Post released a stamp to celebrate 150th anniversary of V.I. Lenin (1870–1924), historian, philosopher on 22nd June 2020.

The Indian Spotted Chevrotian.

A special cover was released on 31st July 2020 on the Indian Spotted Chevrotian at Someshwara.

The Indian spotted Chevrotian( Moschiola Meminna) is often referred to as the "Mouse Deer". It is small, lacking antlers, has well developed canine teeth and is mostly found in the deciduous forests of Western Ghats of India. The mottled markings provide excellent camouflage. The mouse deer communicates through scent marks and vocalizations. the species is placed in Schedule I of the Wild Life Protection Act (1972)

C.Alvares

A special cover was released in Saligoa to celebrate the Birth Centenary of C.Alvares on 1st August 2020.

C. Alvares was born on 1st August, 1920 in Saligoa. He hailed from a family of stage artists called Fokanneager. he was an actor, writer and director par excellence and earned titles like Evergreen Hero, Ace director and King of Duets. Besides performing in Tiatr he also performed in konkani movies like Amche Noxib, Nirmon etc.
