Russia Post released a souvenir sheet of Russian writer Ivan Turgenev on 10th August 2018 to celebrate his 200th birth anniversary.
Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev (1818–1883) is an outstanding Russian realist writer. One of the classics of Russian literature, who made the most significant contribution to its development in the second half of the XIX century. In his work, Ivan Sergeevich raised issues of social order, moral life and the psychology of relationships, he created images of representatives of society characteristic of his time. The writer achieved extraordinary skill in depicting the beauty of Russian nature. I.S. Turgenev translated Western writers into Russian and Russian writers and poets into French and German.
