Stamp on Special Protection Group and Muthuramalinga Sethupathy

India Post released two commemorative stamps on 30th March 2010.

Special Protection Group : The special protection group was created after the assassination of former Prime Minister of India Smt.Indira Gandhi with the intention of providing a highly professional motivated and dedicated security force to protect the Prime Minister.


Muthuramalinga Sethupathy: Muthuramalinga Sethupathy was the last Marava ruler and also a freedom fighter who fought the British and died at St.George Prison, Chennai.

Special Cover - Jharkhand state Khadi and Gramudyog Board

A Special Cover was released on 30 Jan 2010 to celebrate 5th Anniversary of Jharkhand state Khadi and Gramudyog Board. The cancellation has the wheel (charaka) as it coincides with Gandhiji Death Anniversary.

Hanse Sail Festival - Gernmany

 This Maritime festival is held every year in August since 1991 at the Rostock Port in Germany.Over 1.5 million visitors visit every August for this four-day event, making it one of the largest maritime festivals in all of Germany. Large crowds have enjoyed viewing and boarding over 200 sailing ships hailing from various countries. Ships of all sizes and styles are displayed during the event and around 20 sea planes also turn out, offering short flights to attendees. The day before the event ends, a grand fireworks display takes center stage.

A stamp on 300 years 16 Punjab (2nd Patiala) was released on 19th March 2010.16 Punjab (Patiala) is an embodiment of the martial spirit and personal valour, representing the warrior traditions of military service.

Maritime Heritage - Singapore.

Shipping played a pivotal role in the development of Singapore. Sailing crafts of different origins journeyed through the water passages of Singapore, bringing along trade and other commercial activities.


The FDC here which was released on 19th march 1999 has four stamps, the first one used for local mail with standard postage rate has the sailing vessel Clipper, the second of &0 cents has the Twakow, the third of 1 dollar has Fujian Junk and the fourth one of 2 dollars has the Golekkan. All these sailing Vessels played an important part in the maritime history of Singapore.

STS Spirit of New Zealand.

This beautiful sailing ship is a regular sight in Auckland's harbour, which is operated as a training vessel for the youth of New Zealand by the Spirit of New Zealand Trust, the ship plies the coast of both islands of new Zealand providing a unique confidence building experience for its young crew.In the background we can see the magnificent view of the Auckland Harbour

Naval Philatelic Society

The Naval Philatelic Society was founded,on 17 October 1979, at Visakhaptnam, by Cdr.S Shekhar and Cdr.U.N Acharya with an aim to promote Naval Philately and to persuade the Govt. to release more stamps on Indian and Merchant Navy.Also to assist the Navy in their effort to get stamps on Naval Themes and assist in release of special covers. The NPS conducted philatelic exhibitions like NAVPHILEX 79 on naval themes to popularise maritime philately.NAVPHILEX 79, at the Naval Base in Visakhapatnam and several other Exhibitions later. It has a good membership base all over India.
